Just done session with Falkirk High School - really good questions, nice chat!
Favourite Thing: I’m an applied physicist, so my favourite thing is to make devices that improve people’s lives. In my present job this means designing particle accelerators, or bits of a particle accelerator, and then trying them out to see how they behave. Most of my time is spent designing, but I’m most happy sitting at the controls of an accelerator, and figuring out how to make it behave itself!

Me and my work
I design particle accelerators used for various things, such as curing cancer, making nuclear energy work better, and assisting scientific discoveries.
My Typical Day
Doing computer simulations, analysing experimental data, talking to the postgrads, teaching undergrads, applying for funding!
What I'd do with the money
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Skeptical, passionate, laughing
Who is your favourite singer or band?
What is the most fun thing you've done?

What did you want to be after you left school?
A physicist, obviously!
Were you ever in trouble in at school?
