• Question: Is it true that you can develop cancer by simply having your laptop on your lap everyday? Or is it just a myth?

apparently, for boys, it is more likely that the heat from your laptop might warm up your testicles too much. This can be bad for fertility.

I don’t know much about the links between cancer and laptops, but from what I can see there has been no real ‘evidence’ to show this. I’m not sure what kind of cancer it could really cause – your legs aren’t exactly a cancer hotspot. It’s not easy for scientists to prove associations between the environment and cancer- because there are so many other things that could have an effect

The radiation produced by a laptop is VERY unlikely to cause cancers, because it is not strong enough. You’re at far more risk from getting burnt in the sun, or smoke (second or first hand).

I wouldn’t worry about it. There are SO many scare stories today about things which might cause cancer, that you could probably find a story on ANYTHING claiming to be a cause of cancer, russell howard did a good song about it, but I don’t think I can put it on here, because he swears a bit!
