The food industry is a big business. If they can get more for their money, by growing their animals more quickly and so getting more meat, they’ll do it. The trouble is, when they do this – they often don’t have the animals best interests at heart. But you as the customer have some control over this – you can choice to buy products such as free range and organic, which are more likely to follow stricter laws in terms of animal welfare.
Yes this can be done and like Tiffany said happens mostly in the food trade. It is uncommon for people to make animals overgrow when testing on animals for medical reasons. This is because usually people are trying to find out what happens to a certain gene inside a cell rather than what happens to the whole animal. Good question!
It’s mainly earning more money in food business..but when you consider scientific research purpose I think they mainly look for the treat the particular disease and they try to check e.g. Fat metabolism or any particular tissue interest…so if it is for good cause than I would say it’s fair enough…but I don’t agree with use of such chemicals in food industry…its not good for animal welfare and even for human being…
