• Question: why do we get feelings for the opposite sex?

      Hello again magdapdhias. This is a really good question and one science has looked a lot into. It’s obviously important for the continuation of our species that we find each other attractive, and want to make babies, so it’s wired into our brains to want to do this. Research has shown how a person looks, sounds and smells, can all contribute to how “attractive” we find them. In today’s society, their job and money may also play a role too.

      When we see (or smell or hear…) someone we find attractive this starts a chemical signal in the brain which release hormones. These hormones will change our body language, and even our scent(!) to try and attract the person back.

      You can smell how attractive somebody is because we produce something called a sex pheromone. This is a chemical that is sensed by the opposite sex and tells the opposite sex that you are ready to make babies.

      I think is mainly due to difference in sex hormones…Male and Female produce different sex hormones which gives attraction….
