In some way yes. I work on evolution, which is caused by changes in the DNA, Nik looks at how changes in DNA are linked with genetic disease, Hitesh works on testing the safety of drugs used to treat diseases (some of which might be linked with some of the illnesses Nik looks for), Mae works with computer simulations and mathematics and we use maths and simulations all the time in evolution because it’s a lot easier than tracking thousands of animals in the wild, and Hywel develops some very clever machines, which are useful in all parts of science! I’m sure it links with a lot of the machines we have in the lab.

So in some way, we do link up.

Yes I’m sure it does! I study mathematics and apply it to biological experimental problems, which Tiffany, Nik and Hitesh work on. I am also interested in computing and programming and Hywel designs machines which will involve some programming.

Yes, it is related ofcourse…we can’t study or work in biology without any machines or mathematical formulas which applies to toxicology dosing…and before we start testing our drugs they should have been clear from our genetics department for safe use…
