cancer occurs when certain cells in your body begin to multiply out of control. We have special ‘protectors’ in our body known as tumour supressors, which stop this uncontrolled growth from happening, but sometimes they become mutated and don’t work.
They may become mutated through chance, because there is something running in your family that makes this mutation more likely, or because you expose yourself to ‘mutagens’ such as radiation, UV from the sun, or tobacco smoke.
