Sex is basically called sexual reproduction in biology..It is mainly process of mixing of cells from male and female…This cells(gametes) carries genetic information…when cell from male and female meets(Fertilization) and becomes single cell which develops further and at maturity gives birth to baby…

Sexual reproduction is controlled by lots of body hormones…to make it more simple I would say the hormone responsible for joy and pleasure is also involved in this process…..Brain is the head of our body system and it controls all of these hormones…

In a nutshell – sex combines DNA (that’s the code inside every cell which makes you who you are) from two living things into a new living thing which shares features from both the parents. Sex happens in all sorts of animals and plants, and some scientists even argue about whether it happens in bacteria. It’s a BIG question in science why things have sex and how it could have evolved.

Sex is used in two ways in biology.

      1) It can be used to classify one species into either the male or female individuals, especially as differentiated with reference to the reproductive functions.

      2) It can be used to refer to sexual reproduction between a male and female individual to reproduce (make one or many babies depending on the species).

Some species have lots of babies whilst others have a few. In the case of sexual reproduction. The baby combines the DNA from the mother and father as Hitesh and Tiffany point out.
