Yes it is a bit gross to look at slimy things!

If we can understand slimy creatures, then we will hopefully be closer to understanding how our own bodies work. That is why I wanted to do science.

I look at frogs and frog spawn which is actually fascinating. It is what goes on in the slime that is interesting. Microscopes and biology help us with understanding slime. If you look at frog eggs with your eye then they look like jelly goo but when you use a microscope you can see all the individual cells dividing on the outside of the egg. This is amazing to think that a ball of slime is alive and working like clockwork.

Also. Now you can make some cells fluorescent and then you can see different cells glowing under the microscope. This is because somebody was able to take a gene from a glowing jellyfish and put the gene in a frog cell.

Yup, I don’t like gooey stuff, so I did physics instead. No slimy creatures for me….

Like Mae said, the slimy things are usually easier to understand. You get used to them!

I must say when you study science and do work you need to keep your emotions outside the lab…when you balance your emotional personal life with professional life you will become good scientist…
